The new contract effective from 01 October this year will continue until 30 September, 2020. Sihvonen-Punkka has been serving as Director General of the Ficora since 2011.

Before joining Ficora Sihvonen-Punkka worked as Director General of the Energy Market Authority and as Deputy Director General of the Competition Authority.

She also has been a Vice-Chair of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications, BEREC, since 2014 and a member of the BEREC Board of Regulators since 2011.

From 2008 to 2011 she acted as the Chair of the EU working group on electricity markets.

Ficora operates under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and employs around 240 people. Its duty is to monitor and promote the Finnish communications markets and services.

It also ensures that the communications connections in Finland are versatile, well-functioning and secured.
