A staffing company operating in the capital city region is suspected of paying undeclared wages to drivers.
The company hired drivers for a dozen taxi operators in the capital city area.
The police estimate the damages of at least 1.5 million euros in the case in which four prime suspected are being investigated.
Over a hundred drivers who are mainly of foreign background are involved in the investigation.
According to the police, the drivers’ poor grasp of the Finnish legislation was exploited.
Senior Inspector Sampo Suomala from the Helsinki Police Department said the drivers who received the undeclared wages will also be interrogated as suspects.
The pre-trial investigation will probably last until next year.
