Retail   trade sales grew by 0.6 per cent in June from June 2014 According to Statistics Finland.
 
Sales in department store trade correspondingly grew by 0.6 per cent from the previous year, while the fall in daily consumer goods trade amounted to 0.6 per cent.
 
By contrast, wholesale trade sales contracted by 3.0 per cent year-on-year in June. The weak development in wholesale trade also pushed total trade sales to a fall of 1.5 per cent, the data show.
 
Motor vehicle sales also grew by 0.7 per cent from the year before.
 
In retail trade, the sales volume increased by 1.7 per cent in June and in motor vehicle sales by 1.1 per cent from June 2014.
 
The sales volume in wholesale trade fell, in turn, by 0.5 per cent from twelve months earlier.
 
Thus, the volume of total sales was 0.3 per cent higher in June than one year earlier. In all sectors of trade the turnover developed more weakly than the sales volume, due to fallen prices.
 
In the January to June period, sales contracted by 1.3 per cent in retail trade and by 4.8 per cent in wholesale trade compared to the corresponding period of 2014, according to the statistics.
 
At the same time, motor vehicle sales declined by 0.9 per cent from the year before. Total trade sales went down by 3.2 per cent over the corresponding period.
