National flag carrier Finnair operating loss from January and June decreased by 41.3 million euros compared to 53.9 million euros last year, confirmed a release from Finnair.
The company's revenue was on a par with the first half of last year at around 1.1 billion euros.
Finnairs’s profit before taxes during the first half of the year was 19.4 million euros.
According to Finnair estimates, the 2015 operational result is around break-even or slightly positive.
“While we cannot be satisfied with our loss-making result, our financial position and liquidity are very strong. Our long-haul fleet renewal, which will start this autumn, will significantly improve the cost-competitiveness and customer experience of our long-haul traffic. At the same time, we will continue to focus on increasing our revenue through, for example, ancillary services and product improvements in intercontinental traffic,” said Finnair CEO Pekka Vauramo in the release.
