The competition sought applications and ideas that make use of the Galileo satellite system’s PRS service limited mainly to authorities. The award was presented in Berlin last week at the Satellite Masters conference. The decision was also made to start an international pilot project for Finnish-German partnership. The Hali System automatically controls traffic lights to provide emergency vehicles with green signals and unhindered progress. Hali currently operates all the traffic lights in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (northern Ostrobothnia) and Kainuu. Tampere and Kuopio are the next. Hali also received a special prize from the German Ministry of Transport and Communications as well as the ministries of trade and energy.
