The Raisio food company is closing their Southall factory in the United Kingdom. Part of the factory's production will be transferred to the Raisio Newport factory, and the rest outsourced.
The company makes snack foods at the Newport factory. The production of oatmeal will be out-sourced.
The closing of the Southall factory will result in 99 layoffs. The factory will shut its door by the end of March.
“The negotiations have helped create a solution which is essential to ensure that the UK’s snacks business will be successful in the future. The new operating model will improve Raisio's compet-itiveness both locally and internationally,” said Raisio's senior vice president in charge of snacks Tomi Järvenpää.
