Riitta Tiuraniemi, the chair of the board of directors of the state-owned Finavia, the company which operates the airports in the country has stepped down, reported the Helsingin Sanomat, a Finnish language daily.

Tiuraniemi cited the Ministry of Transport’s interference in the work of the board as the reason behind the resignation.

The report said Tiuraniemi disapproved corporate governance which is she thinks is “contrary to good management.”

The dispute leading to the resignation is associated with the settlement of derivative losses of 34 million euros.

“The role of Minister Anne Berner in this was significant,” Tiuraniemi told the Helsingin Sanomat.

Tiuraniemi said the state cannot make decision on behalf of Finavia board outside the annual general meeting.

According to Tiuraniemi, the transport ministry twice interfered outside the precincts of the annual general meeting on matters relating to settlement of derivative losses.
Berner told the newspaper that she did not breach the principles of good governance.
