The parliament on Friday approved the budget for the year 2016 in the last plenary session before the festive season recess.

All the sections were adopted in accordance with the Ministry of Finance report.

The parliament increased additional expenditure of approximately euro 40 million in different areas, particularly in areas dealing with children and youth, internal security and the rule of law.

After the budget approval, voting on a motion of confidence on the government took place in the parliament. The government won the confidence of the parliament by 110 votes to 70.

The next plenary session will be held on February 2. The working period of the parliament in a calendar year "State Days" (Valtiopäivät) will be inaugurated on February 3.
