The Federation of Finnish Financial Services (FK) board has elected Danske Bank Chief Executive Officer Risto Tornivaara as its temporary chairman.
The decision was unanimous, the federation said.
The temporary chairman became necessary when the OP Bank Group announced on Monday that it would remove itself from the federation’s activities.
The federation’s chairman this year has been OP CEO Reijo Karhinen.
OP announced on Monday that it had received a request for information by the Competition and Consumer Agency regarding the company’s possible abuse of its dominant position in retail banking.

OP dismissed the allegations of abuse of its position as unfounded. Karhinen, however, has not resigned permanently as the FK chairman.
FK emphasised in its decision that it does not act as a party in the dispute between members.
