A total of 81 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in the third quarter of 2015, which was four per cent more than in the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finalnd  

The volume of transported soil materials decreased by eight per cent and the volume of transport for other goods increased by 16 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.  

The total transport volume of lorries amounted to 6.0 billion tonne-kilometres in the third quarter of 2015, which was 14 per cent more than in the corresponding quarter of one year before as per the data derived from the statistics on goods transport by road.

Ninety-four per cent of the transport volume was transported in professional transport and six per cent in private transport.

The data for the statistics on goods transport by road are collected from lorry owners with a quarterly sample survey.
