The power company Elenia will increase its electricity transfer fee from April.

The impact of the increase on the customer’s taxable transfer fee is 6 per cent on average. The tax exempt rise in the transfer fee is 9.4 per cent.

“Along with our investment programme, the increase in transfer fee is affected by the repair costs on the power grid caused by recurrent storms, thunderstorms and snow loads as well as price increase by electricity transmission operator Fingrid,” said Elenia Chief Executive Officer Tapani Liuhala.

According to Liuhala, the electricity grid does not meet the current as well as the future electricity needs.

The company’s goal is to raise the proportion of underground cable network by 70 per cent by the end of 2028.

Elenia lays 2,500 kilometres of underground cable network annually.

The company said its investments to improve electricity supply security will rise to more than 470 million euros in 2012-2016.
