The sales of retail trade went down by 1.4 per cent year-on-year in January 2015, according to Statistics Finland’s retail trade flash estimate.

The volume of retail trade sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, grew by 0.2 per cent over the same period.

In daily consumer goods trade, sales contracted by 2.1 per cent and the sales volume by 0.4 per cent in January 2015 from the corresponding period of the year before, the statistics show.

The turnover developed weaker than sales volume both in retail trade and in daily consumer goods trade due to fallen prices.
