Wed, 24 Feb, 2016 12:08:30 AM Immigrants face more problems at work FTimes – STT Report, Feb 24 ![]() Immigrant person at work. File Photo Lehtikuva. The Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) will begin advising immigrant workers on labour issues in March.
SAK lawyers will give advice on work relationships, first by telephone and email, and later also through the customer service desk.
“This is the first low-threshold counselling service for immigrant employees that offers free legal advice for working life,” said SAK immigration expert Eve Kyntäjä in a statement.
According to Kyntäjä, due to different cultures and a lack of language skills, immigrant employees face a higher risk of problems at works than native Finns.
The SAK counselling service is part of a joint project with Töissä Suomessa (Working in Finland), the purpose of which is to develop immigrant integration and advisory services to promote employment.
