Norway's overall inland sales of petroleum products ended at about 8.2 billion liters in 2015, 700 million liters less than the previous year and the fifth consecutive year that total sales decreased, the country's statistics bureau said on Tuesday.

Total sales of gasoline and diesel, which make up 47 percent of the total sales of petroleum products, amounted to 3.86 billion liters in 2015, 284 million liters less than the previous year, according to a report published by Statistics Norway.

The amount of diesel sold was 2.74 billion liters in 2015, 160 million liters less than in 2014. It was the first time sales of diesel decreased since 2009.

In 2015, sales of gasoline ended at 1.12 billion liters, which represents a reduction of 124 million liters from 2014, according to the report.

Marine gas oils accounted for about 16 percent of the total sales of petroleum products, and the sales ended at 1.3 billion liters, 203 million liters less than in 2014.

Sales of light fuel oils ended at about 633 million liters in 2010. Five years later, sales more than halved, ending the year at 268 million liters in 2015, the report said.
