The retail giant Kesko Group will convert its Siwa and Valintatalo stores recently acquired from Suomen Lähikauppa into K-markets from the beginning of the next month.

Kesko estimates that the conversion will be fully implemented over the next year.

In addition, Kesko will recruit hundreds of new K-market franchises. The company’s goal is to transfer the modified Siwa and Valintatalo stores into K-market franchise over the next two years. At the same time, Kesko intends to reform the entire K-market chain.

The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) gave conditional approval to the Kesko acquisition. FCCA has imposed that Kesko sells 60 of the Siwa and Valintalo stores to the competitors.
