The average number of unemployed persons in 2015 was 252,000, which was 20,000 persons more than in the year before, according to Statistics Finland's Labour Force Survey.
 
The unemployment rate was, on average, 9.4 per cent in 2015, having been 8.7 per cent in 2014.
 
The number of persons in the inactive population in disguised unemployment was 144,000, which was 5,000 more than in 2014 as per the data derived from the annual review of Employment and Unemployment in 2015.
 
The number of employed persons was 2,437,000 in 2015, which was 10,000 fewer than in 2014, the survey found.
 
The employment rate of people aged 15 to 64 was 68.1 per cent in 2015 having been 68.3 per cent in 2014.
 
Men’s employment rate was 68.5 per cent and women’s 67.7 per cent. The employment rate of men and women decreased somewhat compared to 2014, the statistics show.
 
The number of unemployed persons grew by 20,000 persons in 2015 from the year before.
 
The average number of unemployed persons was 252,000, of which 137,000 were men and 115,000 women.
 
The number of unemployed men grew by 8,000 persons, and that of unem-ployed women by 12,000 persons from 2014. The number of unemployed persons has been rising since 2012.
 
Unemployment increased in the areas of all other Regional State Administrative Agencies except for Northern Finland.
 
The number of the unemployed grew most in the area of the Southern Finland Regional State Administrative Agency, by 9,000 persons and in the area of the Western and Inland Finland Regional State Administrative Agency, by 6,000 persons.
