The environment conservation organisation WWF has commended Finland’s fish-sourcing practices, pointing out that there are very few unethically-sourced fish and shellfish for sale in Finnish shops and restaurants.

According to the WWF, Finland’s fisheries management has also made tremendous changes for the better in recent years.

The organisation anticipates that Finland could act as an example for the world of how overfishing could be curbed through cooperation of various parties. The number of fish in the seas of the world has been halved in one generation.

The WWF is campaigning in Finland to promote fishing trade accountability.
