The chairman of the main opposition Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP), Antti Rinne on Saturday said the government’s economic policy has been revolving exclusively around improving the cost of competition.
Speaking at the party’s national council in Helsinki, he said there are no alternative measures for economic growth or improving employment in the government’s policy.
According to Rinne, the government’s drive for privatisation, for example, of social or health services, as well as transportation, could lead to the fact that in the future, only those who can pay will receive those services.
“In the government budget sessions, the cuts by the government are dividing people more and more into two groups: those who are thriving and those who do not,” he said.
Rinne went on to say that those affected most severely by unfair spending cuts are the most disadvantaged among the Finns.
