Editor in chief of Finnish newspaper Keskisuomalainen Pekka Mervola and the CEO of the Keskisuomalainen Concern Vesa-Pekka Kangaskorpi have spoken out on behalf of improving postal delivery.

In their petition, Mervola and Kangaskorpi speak of their concerns with the situation of mail delivery.

According to the petition, which was addressed to Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and the Posti CEO Heikki Malinen, rural Finland is suffering from late delivery of mail.

Mail sometimes arrives in the evening, which is too late to read a newspaper, the petition said stressing that newspapers should be read in the morning or during the day.

Posti reformed its mail delivery times in April, extending deliveries into the evening. Some places see mail delivered as late as 6 pm.

In disclosure, the Keskisuomalainen corporation is one of the owners of Finnish news agency STT.
