A fire broke out at a market in Lappeenranta, forcing the authorities to evacuate the shopping mall for a short while on Saturday morning, fire fighters said.
The smoke of the fire also entered the nearby Sokos hotel through a joint corridor, prompting the authorities to evacuate it for about an hour, the sources said.
The rescue team said the fire spread from a roll of newspapers left under the shopping mall stairs and engulfed the nearby area.
The blaze, however, was brought under control immediately and the market remained open.
Fire-fighters suspect someone set the newspapers on fire intentionally.
The fire caused some smoke damage, but no human casualty was reported.
