Latvia’s FM to be present as keynote speaker

A three-day annual meeting of the heads of Finnish diplomatic missions abroad will begin in
Helsinki from Monday, said an official press release.
Latvia foreign minister Edgars Rinkēvičs will be the keynote speaker at the meeting on the opening day instead of Brazil’s Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota who cancelled his visit due to other engagements.
About 100 heads of diplomatic missions will discuss topical themes pertaining to Finland's foreign, security and defence policy, economic external relations and development policy during the meeting.
Consular services and issues pertaining to the operations and future of the Foreign Service will also be discussed.
Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will inaugurate the meeting in the morning where the European Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Alexander Stubb and Minister for International Development, Heidi Hautala will address among others.
President Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen will attend the meeting on Tuesday and deliver their speeches on various contemporary issues.
