Fire scare at Ekokem power utility facility in Uusikaarlepyy led to the deployment of more than 10 units of the emergency and rescue department from the Ostrobothnia region on Saturday.
The fire threat, however, eventually turned out to be a small amount of waste fuel burning at the Jepua facility.
Chief fire fighter on duty said the fire was quickly brought under control and the power plant was not damaged.
According to the environment management company, there was no worker at the plant at the time of the occurrence.
The power utility facility began operating in Autumn. It supplies energy to the nearby Mirka sandpaper company.
The facility is powered by bio-fuel and sand paper waste.
