Main opposition Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) has been found to be the most popular choice for the handling of municipal affairs, according to a survey by the Foundation for Municipal Development.

The results of the survey – where respondents were asked to name political parties which they regarded as competent and capable in municipal affairs – were disclosed on Sunday.

The Centre Party led the survey with 35% people in favour, followed by Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), the biggest component of the six-party alliance government, with 31%, and Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party) with 29%.

Many respondents relied less on Perussuomalaiset (True Finns Party), Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance), Vihreä liitto (Green league) and Suomen ruotsalainen kansanpuolue (Swedish People's Party of Finland) which got a reliability base percentage of 14-15%.

The research, with a +/-3% margin of error, was conducted by the TNS Gallup through interviews with around 1,000 people last month.
