The police authority is planning to set up a specialized anti-cyber crime unit to prevent cyber crime, according to a report published in Finnish-language newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

The National Police Board is seeking to increase experts in the field of cyber crime, which will entail specialized trained police in cyber crime as well as civilian experts.

The main responsibility of the unit would be to investigate more demanding cases such as international and organized crime related transgressions.

The round-the-clock unit would have a connection point in which international request for help in cyber crime would pass, according to the draft on the National Cyber Security Strategy implementation program.

Currently, cyber security related expertise is concentrated within the National Bureau of Investigation, intelligence service and few other major police departments.
The new unit is expected to be spread all over the country, said the report.
