One of the opposition parties in the parliament, Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) on Monday has called for a parliamentary debate on the current state of employment in the country.

The party's parliamentary group has already submitted the debate initiatives to the Speaker's Council.

The Party believes that the country is in need of 200,000 new jobs in which it will be possible to address the sustainability gap estimated at EUR 9-10 billion.

The party leaders said that the government and the opposition should seek a common understanding on the issue of employment.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen has repeated his call upon opposition parties to have a joint debate on the proposed fiscal adjustment of 3 billion euros through taxes hikes and spending cuts.
