An elderly man was killed in an explosion in a courtyard of a building in Northern Ostrobothnia on Monday evening.
 
Police said the explosion was caused by a gas kettle. Inspector Mika Lauri said the explosion could not put other people’s lives at risk because the nearest real estate was several hundred meters away.
 
In another incident, a man was electrocuted after climbing a high voltage pole on Tuesday in the Munkkiniemi neighbourhood of Helsinki.
 
The electricity company had to cut off the power supply before the victim’s body was retrieving. For safety reasons, police had cordoned off a 400-meter area.
 
It is not known why the man climbed the pole. Police investigation is currently underway.
 
In Vaasa, one person was killed in a fire in an apartment on Tuesday night.
 
According to police, the victim lived in the apartment. Inspector Eero Valimäki said the fire was could have been caused by cigarette butts or overheating. 
 
The rescue and emergency services prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the parts of the building. One person was taken to hospital for examination after he fell sick inhaling smoke from the fire.
