The police officer detained early this month in connection with the Jari Aarnio case was set free on Friday.

The officer was detained under suspicion of abuse of official position as well applying and carrying out undercover operations.

The officer was arrested about two weeks ago after the prosecution obtained a court order from the Espoo District Court to continue keeping the officer behind the bars.

The officer has however denied all the allegations.

The investigators also revealed that Jari Aarnio is the only suspect currently behind bars in relation to the investigations.

Earlier, three policemen were arrested on February 5 in connection with the investigations surrounding Jari Aarnio, the former chief of Helsinki police drug unit.

But two personnel were released a day later. One officer remained behind bars as the prosecution sought a court order to extend his detention.

Jari Aarnio, the detained former chief of the Helsinki police drug unit, has been in custody since November 2013 on various charges including bribery, money laundering and abusing position.
