Professor Esa Saarinen sustained wounds when miscreants stabbed him in front of the Dipoli Congress Centre in Espoo on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The report of the attack which was confirmed on the Website of Aalto University said to have taken place near the main entrance of Dipoli after 2pm.
 
The professor was on his way to Dipoli to give lecture to Aalto University students.
 
He was taken to a hospital. His wife Pipsa Pallasvesa told Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat that he was out of danger.
 
“We are shocked at the incident,” said Tuula Teeri, president of Aalto University.

Police said they took away a 21-year old man in suspicion to the stabbing.Both the police and the Aalto University were still not aware if the suspect is a student or an outsider.
 
A number of people witnessed the incident Jyrki Kallio,the head of the investigations.
 
According to  Kallio the victim was stabbed at least once in the midriff area.
 
Elina Ämmälä,the Director of Aalto University Communications said neither Saarinen nor the university had been aware of any threat.
 
Police are treating the issue as attempted murder.
