Postal delivery worker goes under attack in Joensuu

A bus driver was injured when a group of youths reportedly assaulted him in Helsinki late Saturday night.
 
Bystanders reported that the driver had stopped the bus at Tukholmankatu and asked the group to leave the bus.
 
According to witnesses, the driver was prompted to make the request as the group of youths, aged between 15 and 20 years, were shouting inside the bus.
 
Although most of them stepped out of the vehicle, one man proceeded to the driver and started attacking him. The situation escalated outside the bus as others joined in the attack. 
 
According to police, the driver was kicked and punched. The driver was later taken to hospital for examination. The driver had a swollen eye and broken tooth. The police are investigating the incident as assault.
 
Meanwhile, in another incident, miscreants attacked the car of a postal delivery person with an axe and a hammer in Joensuu on Sunday morning, said the Eastern Finland police.
 
The 23-year-old woman was heading to deliver mail at 6:30am at Utra neighborhood in Joensuu.
 
The woman managed to escape from the car during the attack.
 
The police captured the 37-year-old suspect who was in possession of a throwing knife, a loaded gas-operated air pistol and a multipurpose tool.
