The crisis in Ukraine has not escalated fear among the Finns about Russia in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine, said a survey commissioned by the Yle.
It revealed that three out four Finns do not consider Russia as a threat to Finland’s security. It established that the Finns’s attitudes have not changed much either since last year.
The survey conducted by Taloustutkimus showed that Finns had not been interested in pushing for economic sanctions against Russia.
Nearly 60% respondents said Finland should not actively drive sanctions because Russia is economically very important to Finland.
Less than one third of the respondents encouraged decision makers to push for sanctions even if it had impacts on the country.
The survey was conducted this week through telephone interviews. The margin of error was plus-minus three.
