Peruvian Vice-Minister for Defence Jakke Valakivi is due to arrive in Finland on Sunday for a five-day official tour, said a defence ministry press release on Friday.
 
His visit will be hosted by Minister of Defence Carl Haglund. The purpose of the visit is to familiarise with Finnish maritime cluster (activities related to shipyards, technology, education and training, and the role of authorities).
 
Valakivi’s tour will include visits to companies and a meeting with representatives of the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries (AFDA).
 
The vice-minister will also visit Helsinki Maritime Rescue Center (Coast Guard) and Vessel Traffic Service Center (Finnish Transport Agency) as well as the Gulf of Finland Naval Command.
 
During his official tour, Valakivi will also visit Satakunta where he will familiarise himself with STX Finland shipbuilding knowledge and the maritime education and training programmes at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences.
 
The Peruvian vice-minister will also meet the Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja.
