FTimes - STT Report, Oct. 7
The Helsinki Court of Appeal on Monday ruled that a police search conducted at a man's house suspected of drunken driving and use of drugs was unlawful.
The man who refused to take a quick drug test had been stopped by the police while driving.
According to the police, the man had a previous drug-related background and two bottles of medicine were found inside his car.
The police searched the man's car and a quick search of his home was conducted at 22:15 pm, a move which the court termed unlawful.
According to the Court of Appeal, the search conducted in the man's home was against lawful coercive measures because the suspicions were based on minor offences and was not a case of spreading drugs.
According to the law, search in homes cannot be conducted without specified reasons between 9 pm and 6 am.
