The entire personnel in Finnish Border Guard may be laid off for a few days, reported the state-owned broadcasting company YLE.
According to the union representing the employees, there is no alternatives to offsetting the quick savings needed to be made.
Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen said the layoffs are possible, but he hopes savings could be found elsewhere.
According to Räsänen, the Border Guard is undergoing an adjustment programme which will continue until 2018.
Erkki Hirvonsalo, chair of the Border Security Union, estimates that the entire Border Guard staff could be laid off for up to four days.
