FTimes - STT Report, Nov. 29

The number of cases brought before the state legal aid offices is on the rise.

According to Statistics Finland, the state offices handled more than 69,000 public legal issues or 4,000 more than in last year.

Most of the legal assistance was concerned with marriage and family issues, inheritance issues and crime issues.

The need for assistance between women and men varied greatly.

The majority of women were concerned with issues related to marriage and family issues and in matters related to inheritance and real estate.

On the other hand, men were concerned with service relationship and gender equality issues as well as criminal matters.

The average processing time in the legal aid offices was more than four months.

However, more than a quarter of the cases were processed on the same day.
