The Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson has warned that the ability of citizens to influence decisions will weaken if the current reforms are implemented.
According to Henriksson, the social welfare and healthcare reform and reforms in the education sector transfers responsibility to officials.
The Minister expressed concern on the future of democracy in the country.
“People should feel that they can be able to influence their surrounding areas and home towns. If decisions on education and social welfare and healthcare are taken away from their own hometowns, it may give rise to a certain feeling of powerlessness,” said Henriksson adding that the society cannot afford this.
The Minister said the reforms had been made on economic grounds, but at the same time its effects on people have been neglected.
