According to the minister, timber construction has developed significantly in the recent years.
The government has set a target of creating 100,000 jobs in its 10-year bio-economic strategy.
In the interview with Puuinfo, a magazine which focuses on Finnish wood and architecture, Orpo said he believes in the attainment of the target.
Furthermore, the minister believes legislation could promote timber construction markets and operations.
Orpo said, for instance, public procumbent dealing with timber construction should bear the hallmark carbon footprint earmarking, so that municipalities would have to think about the materials they can use for construction of schools, day-care centres and sports halls.
