A middle-aged man drowned in melted ice while riding a snowmobile in Liekune järvi lake of Suonsalmella in Eastern Finland late on Saturday.
The emergency response centre was alarmed shortly before midnight on Saturday about a missing person who was riding a snowmobile.
The rescue services later found tracks of a snowmobile and discovered a man who had drowned in open water. The man was wearing a driving gear, helmet and had a backpack.
The police have warned that there is a strong current towards the direction of Suonsalmella and large area is melting.
The police are investigating the incident.
