The chair of the Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) and Finance Minister Antti Rinne believes that the SDP’s former chief Jutta Urpilainen wants to lead the party again, reported national broadcaster YLE.

Rinne's views were expressed in video posted in YLE's website in which Rinne discusses the matter with Slovakian Minister of Finance Peter Kazimir.

The two ministers met at an unofficial meeting of EU finance ministers in Riga.

In the video, Rinne states that Urpilainen has started campaign to get back at helm of SDP as its chair.

Rinne became the leader of SDP in May last year after edging out Urpilainen in tightly contested elections in party council.

Last week, Rinne asked Urpilainen not to vie for the post of the head of SDP parliamentary group. Antti Lindtman was afterwards chosen to lead SDP's parliamentary group.

Rinne has said that he hopes Urpilainen would be available for a cabinet post, if SDP is in the next government.
