Antti Rinne, the chair of the largest opposition party Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) slammed the Perussuomalaiset settlement for apparent lack of clout in the government programme.

In an interview with Lännen Media, the former finance minister also rebuked the choice of Timo Soini, the Finns Party boss for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs docket.

“It seems Soini and the Finns Party as if voluntarily went out as a support party,” Rinne told the newspaper.

According to Rinne, the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) footprints were most predominant in the government programme and the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) input is visible in the economic policy.

On the other hand, Rinne described the Finns Party input in the government programme as minimal.

Rinne was also exasperated by the leaving out of the opposition in the social welfare and healthcare reforms as from the speakers of the parliament election.

Currently, the opposition is not represented in the Speaker’s Council.
