The former head of Helsinki police drug unit, Jari Aarnio was slapped with a new charge on Friday.
According to the Deputy Prosecutor General, Aarnio colluded with one of his subordinates in order to stop North Savonia police narcotic investigation in the beginning of 2012.
Aarnio and his deputy have been charged with breach of official position.
The investigation targeted a woman who is currently charged with Aarnio on aggravated drug offences.
The prosecutors suspect Aarnio wanted to influence Kuopio police investigation because through the woman the investigation could have led to Aarnio trail.
So far, 30 charges have been raised against Aarnio who has been in pre-trial detention since November 2013.
