However, Sipilä said the matter has not been planned that far in the government and neither have talks taken place.
Financial Times reported that Stubb could be a compromise candidate for the chairmanship of Eurozone finance ministers.
"I do not know, could such a situation be born where a compromise candidate would be needed," Sipilä said.
Stubb, however, earlier during the day refused to speculate whether he was interested in the post or not.
