Sat, 20 Jun, 2015 12:04:21 AM FTimes Report, June 20 ![]() File Photo Lehtikuva. At least 20 persons were killed and 574 others injured in as many as 461 road traffic accidents in May, 2015, according to preliminary data of Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was five higher and that of persons injured 12 higher than in May 2014, the data show.
Of the persons killed in the accidents, 11 travelled by passenger car, two by van and four by motorcycle. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those killed, 17 were men and three were women.
A total of 1,682 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to May period, killing 96 persons and injuring 2,121.
The number of persons killed was 25 higher and that of persons injured 155 lower than in the corresponding period of 2014.
Of the persons who were killed, 62 travelled by passenger car, five by van, two by lorry and four by motorcycle as per the statistics.
Pedestrians killed numbered 13 and cyclists six. In addition, four other road users were killed.
