Väyrynen stated that in case Greece leaves the euro, Finland should follow the example of the country.
Väyrynen believes Finns have already suffered from being members of the Eurozone and shifting to single currency was a big mistake.
According to Väyrynen, Finland should restore economic independence and the ability to determine the external value of its currency by itself.
Väyrynen proposed that Finland should use its own currency alongside the euro.
If other Eurozone countries besides Greece and Finland introduce own national currencies alongside euro, Väyrynen believes the euro could still be saved.
Väyrynen believes Greece’s possible departure from the euro would only strengthen Eurozone’s solidarity and centralise decision making in the EU.
