Prosecutor General Matti Nissinen, director of the Central Bureau of Investigation Robin Lardot, Kauko Altomaa of the Ministry of the Interior's police department, and director of the police administration Seppo Kolehmainen are the final four.
Nine people applied for the position. In informed circles, Niisinen has been considered the strongest candidate for the position.
Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of the Interior Päivi Nerg did not comment on the details of the choosing of police commissioner.
The government will appoint a new commissioner on Thursday.
