A motorcycle rider died on Sunday at Rantasalmentie in Savonlinna.
The 49-year-old motorcyclist heading towards Juva for some reason ended up in a ditch on the right side of the road near the Luhtisentie intersection.
He died on the spot. No other person was involved in the accident.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
In another incident, a woman was on Saturday evening run over by a vehicle in Suomussalmi.
The incident was confirmed by the Oulu police.
According to the police, four people had been spending the evening in a private residence. One of them, however, started to drive a car from the yard and ran over the woman who also happened to be in the yard.
The 55-year-old woman was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The police have arrested the man who was driving the vehicle. The police said the matter is being investigated as a case of aggravated driving under influence and endangering traffic safety.
