The Minister of Justice and Employment Jari Lindström has assured that the same-sex marriage law will be enforced as planned in the spring of 2007.

The Minister's answer to a written response was announced by the chair of Vihreä liitto (Green League) in a tweeter feed.

Niinistö had submitted a written question to Lindström after the freshly appointed Minister had publicly admitted his reservations on presenting the legislation.

In his response, Lindström said the parliament had passed the bill in December which allows persons of the same sex to be legally married, and the legislative amendment will come into force on 01 March, 2017.

According to the Minister, the Justice Ministry together with other ministries and authorities are currently mapping legislative amendments as stipulated by the Marriage Act.
