The trial of Andy Hall, a researcher at the Finnish NGO Finnwatch, continues today.

A fruit processing company in Thailand, Natural Fruit Company Ltd, took Andy Hall to court to face a number of criminal and civil lawsuits in February 2013.

The trial is related to  a report published by Finnwatch a couple of years ago which exposed grievous human rights violations at Natural Fruit’s pineapple juice production facilities.

It will be clear on Monday whether the court will refer to the case in which Hall is accused of defamation and computer crime.

The Thai attorney general intends to re-open the previous case dismissed against Andy Hall.

Dozens of international organisations have expressed their concern about the treatment of human rights activists as well as the rights of workers in Thailand.
