About 46 percent of Finns support lowering blood alcohol concentrationlimit, according to a survey commissioned by the Association of Finnish Driving Schools-SuomenAutokoululiito.
Currently, the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit in the country is set at 0.5, whereas the BAC limit in Sweden and Estonia is 0.2.
The Åland Islands is also planning to reduce the BAC limit.
According to the association, lowering BAC limit would enhance road safety and significantly reduce serious injuries and fatal accident.
Slightly over one-fifth or 23 percent of the respondents would like to reduce the BAC limit to zero. On the other hand, 22 percent of the respondents would to some extent like to reduce the BAC limit.
Only just over five percent would like to raise the BAC limit.
The survey was conducted by TNS Gallup in which a thousand people were interviewed.
The margin of error was around three percent.
