Bear sightings in the country increased significantly this year, reported a Finnish language daily, Keskisuomalainen.
More than 8,200 bear sightings had been made by the end of July which is a thousand more than last year. Nearly 14,000 bear sightings were made in the whole of last year.
At the same time, the areas which bears are densely spread has expanded strongly. The largest bear habitat expands from Eastern border to the West coast.
Traditional bear range is at the heart of Multia, Pylkönmäki, Karstula and Keuruu.
Finland is home to an estimated 1,500 bears. The peak year was 2010 when the number of bears exceeded 2,000. SAfterwards, hunting licenses have been increased, said the newspaper.
The bear hunting season begins on August 20.
