A total of 46 people had died from fire breakouts by the end of July.
The figure is seven less than that in the corresponding period last year.
According to the statistics of Finnish National Rescue Association SPEK, the majority of the victims were men.
A third of the fire victims were over the age of 65.
Detached house fires claimed 24 lives, while 14 died in apartment fires.
One person died from a fire which broke out in a holiday home, while five others died in fires which broke out in other buildings.
SPEK advised residents to constantly check the functionality of smoke detectors, especially when one has been away for a long time.
